ART ROOM AFTER SCHOOL
Art Room After School supports the social, emotional, and academic growth of Clatsop County youth. Because every child deserves access to meaningful art experiences, these classes are free. Students explore new materials and hands-on projects that build confidence and develop creative voice and self-expression. This program is open to all students in Clatsop County.
All classes are held in the Art Room at Astoria Middle School, 1100 Klaskanie Avenue. Once you’ve registered, we’ll send you directions on where to meet.
Art Room After School includes four units throughout the academic year, each lasting six to nine weeks. Each unit has a capacity of 25 students. Registration will remain open for new students as long as there is room. Sign up below. If classes are full, email astoriavisualarts@gmail.com to get on the wait list and to learn about additional opportunities.

HISTORY: Art Room was founded in 2022 by Astorians Kiley Laws and Chloe Maglio to enrich the social, emotional, and academic development of Clatsop County's elementary age students. Art Room offered free art programing in partnership with the Astoria Library, and in 2022 and 2023, Art Room partnered with Astoria Visual Arts to create summer Art Camps. They were a huge success! In 2023, Art Room launched an after school program, which provided weekly art education throughout the academic year.
In 2024, Art Room founders and co-directors Kiley Laws and Chloe Maglio received exciting opportunities to advance their art education careers. In August 2024, Art Room and AVA made an agreement for AVA to continue Art Room’s stellar programming.
Kiley and Chloe, along with Art Room’s former board president, Andrea Mazzarella, will continue to be involved in Art Room from time to time, advocating for equitable, standards-based education for all school age youth in Clatsop County.
