Astoria Visual Arts is pleased to announce that Astoria-based artist Karina Andrews has been selected as AVA’s newest Artist-in-Residence. Beginning January 1, 2026, Andrews will receive a dedicated studio space in the Astoria Studio Collective for a six-month residency. As part of the program, she will also have access to reduced cost of art supplies courtesy of Fine Art Supply.

Karina Andrews is a woodblock printmaker and watercolor painter based in Astoria, Oregon. Her atmospheric landscape prints and watercolor miniatures explore the interplay of stillness and energy in the natural world, with particular attention to the way light moves across water, land, and sky. She began exhibiting her work through AVA Open Studios and draws inspiration from the epic beauty of the Oregon Coast, the writings of John Muir, plein air outings with fellow artists, and road-trip explorations with her child. Her practice is grounded in curiosity and a desire to continually push herself—technically, conceptually, and in scale—while remaining deeply connected to place and community.

During her AVA artist-in-residence, Andrews is focused on completing a large-scale, multi-panel woodblock print series depicting Pacific Northwest landscapes, including Short Sands Beach, Mount St. Helens, and the Puget Sound. Having dedicated studio space allows her to push beyond the constraints of her home working space and fully realize these ambitious works, while also advancing a long-conceived illuminated woodblock project that experiments with translucent prints.

Meet Andrews and see her progress during Artwalks January through June, and follow her on Instagram @oysterhillpress and @tinylittleskies.

The AVA a-i-r program is sponsored by Astoria Coffeehouse and Bistro and Fine Art Supply.
