AVA artist-in-residence : Lindsey Aarts

Astoria Visual Arts welcomes artist-in-residence Lindsey Aarts.

Lindsey was born and raised on the Gulf Coast of Florida and graduated from Florida State  University with a degree in Art History and Museum Studies. In 2009, she packed her belongings and headed west to Portland, Oregon. For the last thirteen years, Lindsey has worked as a freelance graphic designer but began focusing on her personal art practice when she moved to Astoria in  2017. Her current work combines watercolor and mixed media collage to create colorful imagery reminiscent of Oregon’s north coast.  

Lindsey is honored to be the next AVA artist in residence and plans to use this opportunity to experiment with the creative process, expand her subject range and explore new concepts while working toward the goal of writing and illustrating her first book.  

Outside the studio, you can find Lindsey selling at the Astoria Sunday Market, teaching watercolor classes at the Columbia River Maritime Museum, or hanging at the beach with her family. Learn more about Lindsey and her work at lindseyaarts.com
