May Gallery Exhibit :
9th Annual Clatsop County Student Art Show
May 13 - June 4
Award ceremony & artist reception Saturday, May 13, 5:00pm
AVA is proud to showcase local student artists for the 9th annual Clatsop County Student Art Show. The show runs May 13 through June 4 and is juried for cash awards and prizes.
The exhibition brings together students from Astoria, Knappa and Warrenton High Schools along with youth attending Astoria Choice Academy and homeschool students. Art appreciation and art-making are immensely valuable skills for students’ personal and academic development.
Each student created artwork on one or more of the 150 12”x12” wood panels graciously donated by City Lumber in Astoria. Each artwork will be available for sale for $50 each, with students receiving all proceeds from the sale.
Please join us in celebrating these talented young artists and in thanking the art teachers at each school. A short artist reception and award ceremony will take place at 5:00pm on Saturday, May 13.
This exhibit is supported by AVA’s Miss Bea Johnson Fund, founded in 2011, that advocates for the importance of art education for student’s personal and academic development, and provides learning opportunities for students to build knowledge and develop skills in the visual arts. This program provides weekly art classes for students at Astoria Choice Academy, quarterly workshops at local high schools. AVA also organizes a field trip to Portland each year for students from each school and hosts an annual art exhibit.
This Clatsop County Student Art Show is made possible by AVA members along with the Oregon Community Foundation’s Fred W. Fields Fund, City Lumber, and supporters of AVA’s Miss Bea Johnson Fund, including RiverSea Gallery and program founders, Noel and Patricia Thomas.
Students participated from: Astoria High School (AHS), Warrenton High School (WHS), Knappa High School (KHS), Astoria Choice Academy (ACA), and Homeschool.
Many thanks to the art teachers who made this show possible: Mickey Cereghino, Miki Souza, Brian Vollner, and Keri Domer.
