This exhibit invites artists to use the phrases of the Simple Loving Kindness Mediation as inspiration for creating visual art.  The version of the meditation being used to inform this exhibit is from Stephen Levine’s book, Healing Into Life and Death (1984).  (See link to the Simple Loving Kindness Meditation below).

We are interested in both established and emerging artists for this exhibit.  All visual arts media will be considered. Each artist may submit up to 3 pieces. There are 3 groupings of phrases (see phrases below) and we encourage you to submit one piece for each of the three categories, although this is not required. Wall mounted art should be no wider than 24 inches. The AVA gallery walls will accommodate taller works, so we are not imposing a strict height limit. We would like to accept at least one piece of art from each artist who submits work, as long as it is in “ready to install’ condition and it adequately reflects the intention of using the Simple Loving Kindness Meditation as inspiration for the artwork.

Deadline for online submissions, including photos is February 15, 2025.
