UNDER THE SUN—OVER THE MOON: HUES OF GREEN
April 11 - May 3, 2026 | Opening Reception Saturday, April 11 at 5:00pm
Astoria Visual Arts presents Under the Sun—Over the Moon: Hues of Green, an exhibition exploring green as both color and idea—a reflection of life, growth, and the fragile balance of our environment. The show brings together regional artists—Nick Brakel, Jenny Lovold, Kristie Mooney, Rachel Siegel, Emily Miller, Dawn Stetzel, Kristi Harrison and curator Agnes Field—who all have a deep and longstanding commitment to environmental observation, each grounded in a shared belief in nature’s resilience. Through careful attention and creative practice, the work invites reflection while also raising awareness of ongoing environmental challenges.
In a time marked by wildfires, drought, flooding, extreme heat, and species decline, these artists consider how we live within uncertainty while still holding space for transformation. The solace of green landscapes reminds us not to lose sight of renewal, possibility, and change.
This show marks AVA’s sixth April exhibit centered around environmental consciousness, and the fifth curated by Agnes Field, whose vision has helped shape this evolving series.
View the show at the AVA Gallery, 959 Commercial Street in Astoria, Thursdays through Sundays, 11:00am to 3:00pm and join us for an opening reception during Artwalk on April 11 at 5:00pm.
