February Gallery Exhibit: “Innocence, in a Sense”

A group exhibition curated by Carrie Mariko Williams

February 12 - March 5, 2022

Astoria Visual Arts has invited artists residing in the Pacific Northwest to submit original artwork for a group exhibit honoring the important role the nude figure has played in the arts for centuries.

The exhibit, “Innocence, in a Sense,” is curated by Astorian Carrie Mariko Williams. Carrie was drawn to relocate to Astoria from Seattle four years ago after being accepted into the Royal Nebeker Art Gallery’s longstanding exhibit “Au Naturel: the Nude in the 21st Century” at Clatsop Community College. Her painting training at Gage Academy of Art focused on working from a live model in order to observe subtlety of form that makes drawings appear more lifelike. She continues these studies with a dedicated group of artists that meet weekly to focus on improving their skills of life drawing.
