AVA welcomes new leadership
Astoria Visual Arts is pleased to announce the addition of three new members to its board of directors: Susan Taylor, president, Laura Janes, vice president, and Jon L., member at large. Each new member brings significant experience to assist the organization to further the mission-focused work in support of arts and culture of the Lower Columbia Pacific Region.
Susan Taylor is a self-taught, mixed media artist with a lifetime of creative pursuits. Before moving to Astoria, she served in numerous roles including president and treasurer of the Arts and Crafts Cooperative, Inc (ACCI) in Berkley, California, the largest artist cooperative west of the Mississippi, operating for over 65 years. Taylor also brings extensive experience in corporate finance and business consulting. Combined with a love of art and artists, Taylor is excited to serve in her new role.
Laura Janes is a painter who has made her living as an artist for over three decades. Beginning her training at San Diego State University, she went on to careers in teaching, sales, and small business before finally becoming a full-time painter. Before moving to Astoria, Laura owned and operated Iconica, an art services business providing murals, paintings, and interior design in Southern California.
Jon brings a love of culture plus a unique set of trades and business skills to the nonprofit. Since moving to the area, Jon has been a fixture at many arts events and is quick to lend a hand or pitch in wherever he can.
The three new board members join eight returning members to lead AVA in advancing the arts in the Lower Columbia Pacific Region.
