Ray Merritt
Ray is a retired Astoria School District teacher. He is a Board Member of Astoria's Downtown Historic District Association and Design Committee Chairman. Ray is a committee member for the Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce. He is also a co-founder of Studio 11's Sidewalk Prism Glass Repair Project. Ray served for many years on the Board of Directors of the Tillicum Foundation, the governing body of the local public radio network of stations KMUN (Astoria), KTCB (Tillamook) and KCPB (Warrenton), in a number of essential capacities, including for the Fisher Poets Gathering.
Noelle McClure
With a background in art collections management—most recently with the prestigious Paul Allen Family Collection in Seattle—and since then expanding her experience by working in development at the Clatsop Community College Foundation and now working in Quality Management at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Noelle is excited to put her skills to work for the artists of the greater Astoria area through AVA. Noelle earned a BA in art history and a BFA in printmaking from the U of O where she graduated summa cum laude. She also has an MFA in studio art from UNC Greensboro and a Graduate Certificate in Museum Collection Management & Care from George Washington University.
David Savinar
A native Oregonian, David Savinar creates captivating, expressive pen and ink drawings and paintings. Often whimsical, sometimes contemplative, David’s artwork immerses the viewer into a fanciful, emotional world. His scope of work encompasses sculpture and film as well. David earned a BA in Fine Art at the University of Denver and a BFA from The Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. He studied at the Art Students League in New York and has studied at The Museum Art School (PNCA) and Portland State University. As an advertising Creative Director, David created campaigns for companies like L’Oreal, Gillette, Westin Hotels, Nike, Star Wars among others. Currently, he serves on the boards of Pacific Northwest College of Art and Maryhill Museum of Art.
Kristin Shauck
Kristin holds a BFA in painting and drawing (magna cum laude) from Baylor University in Waco, Texas (1989), and an MFA degree in painting and drawing from Texas A&M Commerce (1993). Having taught at the college level in both Texas and South Dakota for over a decade prior to relocating to the Northwest, 2022 marked her nineteenth academic year teaching painting, drawing, and design at Clatsop Community College in Astoria, where she also serves as founding director of Au Naturel: the Nude in the 21st Century, an annual international competition of figurative art. Kristin has exhibited her own artwork in various regional and national exhibitions as well as internationally in England, Japan, and India.
